Classes at Dance Edge

At Dance Edge School of Performing Arts we offer our very own classes in multiple styles including Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, Lyrical, Acro, Musical Theatre, Hip Hop and Aerial Hoop. We also have a range of technique and strength and conditioning classes on offer. Students are given non-compulsory opportunities to perform in concerts and join our performance troupe. We understand that our students come here not just to dance but to gain confidence, to develop and to improve.

At Dance Edge School of Performing Arts, we pride ourselves on creating a safe and nurturing environment
for our students to thrive at their own pace.
Little Dreamers (2–3 years)
Little Dreamers is a music and movement program consisting of weekly 30 minute classes. This program allows parents to be present in the room while students work through fortnightly themes such as Colours, Shapes, Dinosaurs, Space, Circus and more.
Little Bloomers (3–4 years)
Little Bloomers is a progression from Little Dreamers introducing young dancers to basic foundational dance techniques over multiple genres. These classes keep a fortnightly theme and some elements of the Little Dreamers program for consistency. During the 30 minute lessons, parents are encouraged to leave the room to aide in building students’ resilience and work on being in the studio without Mum and Dad.
Little Movers (4–5 years)
Little Movers is the progression from Little Bloomers where students are introduced to a different genre of dance each fortnight. In a structured environment, they will have the ability to choose which genre/s they wish to continue in when they move into primary school.
Our Tap classes are modern with a technical foundation. Students can build a sound understanding of musicality using the floor to create their own beats and rhythms with their feet.
Our jazz classes are energetic, technique focussed, and allow students opportunities to improvise and learn about their own creative process in choreography.
Our Classical Ballet classes are progressive and comprehensive. Students receive an anatomical approach to their technique and a student-centred method allowing them to reach their own full potential while progressing with the class.
Our Contemporary classes are carefully constructed and students are provided opportunities to improvise and learn about their own creative process in choreography.
Musical Theatre
The main focus for this class is developing strong singing techniques along with exploring all things drama.
Jazz Funk and Hip Hop
Our Hip Hop and Jazz Funk classes keep this popular genre age appropriate and current. Individuality is encouraged throughout this comprehensive program and students are given opportunities to improvise and create their own pieces.
Our Contemporary classes are carefully constructed and provide students with the opportunity to explore modern movement and improvisation and learn about their own creative process in choreography.
The Lyrical style, like most, uses ballet technique as a foundation for free movement. Students will learn how to extend their balletic skills and explore musicality and emotion further.
